Good luck! When we had it in 2005 here in the Philippines, it was the first time the SEA Games was held in multiple cities and it was very challenging for us. In 2005, Metro Manila served as the main hub of the Games, though several events also took place in Bacolod City, Cebu City, Los Baños and Canlubang in Laguna, Tagaytay City in Cavite province, Angeles City in Pampanga, and the Subic Bay Freeport Zone in Zambales. Working for the 2005 SEA Games, I had to travel to different venues all the time and there were different airports for us where we received the different delegations - 2 outside of Luzon, 3 in Manila, and 2 outside of Manila. It will be a logistical nightmare for you guys but if you can pull it off like we did, it will be a very pleasant experience for everyone. But people working for the Games should be prepare for literally sleepless nights! I had to stay awake for over 24 hours during the 2005 games shuttling from 3 different cities far away from each other!

I've been to Indonesia for 3 times. Very nice country with friendly people. Just a pity since I often stuck in the office and had no time hanging around in Jakarta. Felt a bit same as home in Vietnam by sitting in an open-air restaurant chit-chatting with friends. Already book a business trip to Indo around Dec 2010 and plan to stay in Jakarta and Bali. I will arrange time to get around understanding more about lovely Indo, Indonesian, Indonesian culture, food and SEA Games.

Forgot to say, I wish to join Indonesian fans in soccer games. As a Vietnamese fans, I deeply respect their spirit. I really want to join the heat, the noise, the enthusiastism that those fans bring to the stadium.

talked about the enthusiasm and fanatism soccer supporters in Indonesia,Indonesia is the country with the most fanatical soccer fans in Southeast Asia. So I hope this does not turn into something bad. because it would turn to hooliganism.they will destroy everything and make a riot. This is not we want.. no as the host we must entertain our guests very well.because sea games is aim to strengthen solidarity, not create hostility.. aww

Wow !! you have so many supporting cities in 2005 SEA Games..we also has 3 cities as main cities..Jakarta only supporting city.because Jakarta was so often been the host city when SEA Games was held in Indonesia.about the distance between one city to another city.I think Jakarta,Bandung and Semarang are very near each other.only Palembang just far enough than those 3 cities.because palembang is in sumatra island others in Java island.the distance between jakarta and Palembang is about 45 minutes if you using an airplane.but if you using the land route is more than 18 hours because you have to cross the strait. Jakarta-Bandung is about 2 hours if you using the land route, such as train or Toll Road.and Jakarta-semarang is about 4 hours if using train or Toll Road and 1 hour if using an airplane..

Yep. The games were held in at least three islands here, the main island of Luzon and the islands of Negros Occidental and Cebu (they cannot be reached by land, but you have to fly at least 1 hour to each island from Manila. Cebu, however, has an international airport so there are people who can go straight to Cebu without having to pass by Manila. The other host cities outside of Manila can be reached from 2-4 hours of travel.

The 2005 SEA Games was the first time in SEA Games history where there were multiple host cities, and as there were multiple host cities, there were multiple opening and closing ceremonies as well. There was a separate opening and closing ceremonies in Manila, Clark, Subic, Cebu, Bacolod. I was able to attend the opening and closing ceremonies in Manila- the first time the opening and closing ceremonies were held in a public park. I was at the VVIP area on the right side of the stage if you are viewing it on TV. I was also at the Subic Opening Ceremonies but missed the Opening in in Clark and other cities. The Opening and Closing Ceremonies in Manila was the biggest ever public attendance on SEA Games Record and the 2005 SEA Games had the games with the most number of athletes competing. It was also for FREE and it had a live audience of over 200,000 people.  So imagine how stressed out I was then!

On the side note, it was also in 2005 where Timor Leste earned its first international sports medal as a sovereign nation. :)

about timor leste..this country ever been a part of our country..we all knew that timor leste have many talented boxers.in the past, when TL still part of Indonesia, they athletes always give some medals for Indonesian team in SEA Games and Asian Games.and now,in laos and philippines they prove that they can get some medals in boxing..congratulation to TL..even they are not a part of us anymore we still love them as brothers..smile

no one in this world want adapt brutalism..but brutalism always there in soccer.not only in indonesia, but also happened almost in the world.even a great team like english team..the Hooligans is the nickname given to English football fans.this nickname came from the brutalism of their fans.but the spirit, enthusiasm of soccer in southeast asia maybe you found only in Indonesia...this is the things that all southeast asian soccer teams can adapt from Indonesia..aww

you even not vietnamese but you judge no one vietnamese interesting play in Indonesia cause they will be butchered by us,i tell ya,that isn't only thai and singaporean joined in our league but also korean and japanese players.why ? cause our league is one of  the best league in Asia along with Thai and Singapore league from southeast asia.so,the brutalism in our league not so influenced in Indonesian league reputation..plus we never butchered every foreign players they were even glad to be playing in the Indonesian league.cause the athmosphere really2 different from their country.the stadium was always full of fans.the fans singing and dance to support they team until the match end..the only reason why no one vietnamese joined in our league, because until now every indonesian soccer clubs difficulty to contacting vietnamese players agent...wink

like you said..we have 38 sports and 38 cities in Indonesia can be the host in each sports.I agree if the cities only in java, sumatra or kalimantan island.why ? the city like jayapura in papua is very far from Jakarta as the centre of all cities in Indonesia.plus Internet infrastructures in Papua not really as good as Sumatra or java Island.the journalist or Correspondent from other Southeast asian countries maybe difficult to sent their news with using the internet.one of the reasons why Palembang,Bandung and Semarang are chosen to host SEA Games 2011,because they have good Internet Infrastructures,In Palembang,Semarang and Bandung the wi-fi facilities have almost in all the sides of the cities.so,not only sports infrastuctures is the important facilities when the Games will be held but also the technology of Information facilities like internet facilities..

about indonesian soccer fans,if the riot happen because of the hooliganism we must be feel ashamed..we must correct it  and hope that unwanted things did not happen..ok..cheers and peace aww

But Jayapura and Banjarmasin doesn't have adequate sport facilities,i think

Lets pray they dont bomb the Sea Games. Indonesia is one of the most dangerous places in the world right now so i hope all the countries reconsider sending their athletes to almost certain death.

Hope Thailand, Malaysia or Singapore takes over the games from bomb infested Indo :D

Indonesia is one of the success host in Asian Football Cup in 2007..no bomb or violence.we know how must serve the best to our guest team..

hope that Indonesia return to glory in 2011 SEA Games..aww

manchester united not come..but bayern muenchen a famous germany football club in bundesleague not cancel their tour in Indonesia.. It depends on the perception of each club.Manchester United also very sorry because they cancel they tour in Indonesia. In Indonesia they have more than 22 million fans.and this is the largest MU fans in southeast asia.calculate by yourself how much their losses if they did not come to Indonesia.Indonesia is the largset market for European football club such as MU,Juventus,AC Milan,Real Madrid,Barcelona,Bayern Muenchen, and Ajax Amsterdam.they have more than 20 million fans here..

Who gives a **** if Indo has the largest fan base.We are talking about security here. If what you say was true and united could have made a huge profit by playing a friendly in Indonesia but choose not to, this would imply that they were worried of a bomb going off and blowing them to smithereens. Everyone loves to make money but not at the cost of lives. Don't get emotional and nationalistic about this topic because the whole world knows you guys have a security problem. Just because you shot a few terrorist dead doesn't mean the problem is solved. Lets wait and see within a few years whether there are more bombings.I hope im proven wrong and the games are a success.
