VATTANAK Bank plans to launch construction of a US$100 million headquarters on Monivong Boulevard next week, said one of the bank's key investors on Tuesday.

Construction is scheduled to finish in 2011, said Chhun Leang, the mother of Sam Ang Vattanak, Vattanak's executive director who is out of the country.

The 33-storey, 8,000 square-metre-headquarters opposite the railway station will also contain space for rent as offices or retail, she said.

Pa Socheat Vong, deputy governor of Phnom Penh, told the Post on Tuesday that the new building is good for the city, but warned that it will bring more traffic jams if it does not comply with architectural plans.

The capital is experiencing an unprecedented building boom that includes another massive bank headquarters - the Canadia Bank skyscraper, also on Monivong Boulevard.

"It shows the progress in the banking sector," said Pa Socheat Vong.

Very nice. Cambodia is changing. Looks like you brought the entire Skyscraper City Thread on Cambodia here! One question though, who owns these projects? Cambodians or foreigners? I heard that alot of properties in Cambodia are owned by Singaporeans. Is this true? I know for one that Posco E&C is Korean.

Phnom Penh is changing a lot in the last few years, every time i return there on vacation, there are always new buildings arise. I think i don't recognize my city anymore. I hope it'll be a good things for the country and more investors come to Cambodia.

I don't think Singaporean owned many properties in Cambodia. The top investors in Cambodia 2008 are China, Korea and Malaysia. China is more on garments, agriculture and hydro-power, Korea on city development projects. In the project above, there some projects belong to Cambodian groups but most of the big projects are Korean.

I just love my country!!!!! I love PP the way he is now!!! new building should be build around not inside!!!!! we have a very cute relax and comfortable downtown... I don't want to see more traffic jam dear!!! they should plan build more gardens, place for relax not skyscaper.. But I can see PP is now changing very fast!! even I live here some places I still don't believe it!!! most of the roads are good they look stronger then before!! the only problem now I can see is floating. I hope it will improve soon.. Ohh dear now we have the place where we can play paintball!!! it very fantastic!! it close to Northbright international school.. I usually play it somewhere els not in Cambodia but now it available now in PP. Amazing!!!

I've seen Grand Phnom Penh International City Project. This project is developed by Ciputra Group - a well known developer in Indonesia.Ciputra not only build modern properties in cambodia,but this company also already built one in Hanoi,Vietnam.this company ambition is build many modern properties in every country in Indo-china which still developing their infrastructures in their capital city such as Phnom Penh in Cambodia,Hanoi in Vietnam,and also Vientiane in Laos.
