These 3 countries have high possibility to be the champion (get the highest gold medals) in Laos. Do you agree ?

Yes, I agree with you. But we cannot rule out the Philippines and Indonesia. The Philippines has set an optimistic target, while Indonesia is determined to make it to the top 3. The Philippines and Indonesia had at one time or another ruled the biennial meet.

Thailand will be the champian again as they got it every seasons. Among South East Asia, Thailand is the best for sports champianship.

I believed that Thailand will be number ONE again this season

Thailand will be the champion but the second place will be the hot one's...either Malaysia, Vietnam or Indonesia..these 3 countries will be occupy the 2nd place - 4th place in the medal tally..those are based on their current achievements in several world and regional outings so far..

TO LAOS: all the best, i believe your team will give very much fights during the games...

Just an intelligent assessment based on current projections and historical precedence:

There will three countries that has the capability to capture the overall gold medal haul.

First Tier:
Thailand - has always had a sports program and have shown strenght in Boxing, Track and shooting events.

Philippines - vastly improved their sports program the last two years and will compete with Thailand in the medal haul in Boxing.  Strong in swimming and track, billiards and Taekwondo

Vietnam - Improved Sports program the last 8 years.  Strenght in shooting, track and might show some come with a surprise in swimming.

Indonesia - Have shown decline in the last decade in their sports program but still a contender in the medal haul.  Used to be a sports powerhouse in the region

Second tier Tier:

Malaysia - is a 2nd tier in SEA sports may even meet stiff competition against Singapore and Myanmar.  This three will lead the 2nd tier or the rest of the ASEAN in medal haul

malaysia isnt in the 2nd tier...Malaysia is at par with Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam...look at the last SEA games and the last asian games..by the way, we do have some world class atheletes in the following OLYMPIC sports

1. Badminton

2. Field Hockey

3. Track Cycling

4. Archery

......and just want to state that the first tier country should won at least ONE gold medal in the Olympic...and i think only Thailand and Indonesia should be placed in the first tier....any comments?????

malaysia does not look for any supreme in SEA region.it is juts a medium for our athletes to get some exposure. we are not looking into SEA games, but we are now focusing more to olympics, commenwealth games and asian games. Winning gold in SEA games is not that exclusive.

it doesnt matter if our team lose to singapore, phillipines, thailand, indonesia or even laos coz we are just participating the games. we realized that Malaysia contingent is not that hot in the SEA games if compared to Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore or any team.....

we are hoping to win golds in asian and olympics....that is our aim...

FYI, winning an elusive gold in an olympic is not that easy if compared to SEA games level...only Indonesia and Thailand did it since 1992 olympics in Barcelona....im just stating that winning golds in SEA games will become nothing to be proud of when it comes to the world stage..tell me unless badminton, boxing, weightlifting...where are the SEA games gold medallists in top 10 or even top 3 in the world???

let gets real....winning top three in the medal standings doesnt guarantee to be in the top three in ASIAN games or even OLYMPICS ....

what im trying to say that- every athlethes must try to beat their personal best at least in contention for the medal standings during Guangzhou Asian Games 2010 or  2012 London Olympics...

im malaysian but im ASEAN's as well, i want to see many more SEA athletes to win as many golds as they could during the ASIAN and OLYMPICS games .....

good luck to all

I don't care whether Vietname or ThaiLand, and so forth will be the champions for the gold, I just wanna see how well Laos will be able to go for the gold; will Laos only get the same amount of the gold? - or will Laos be able to gain more gold medals than ever before?. These are critical questions for ALL of the Lao sports competitors, athletes.

Hi Admin,

Most Internet forums have their forum rules, and it is important to have them for efficiency in control. An accurate rule is a must.

Today i just want to introduce you a recommendation about your forum rule.

Do you still remember the 'Thai music in Lao society' topic? I think you do. It , regarded offensive, was locked by your final decision. In fact, it is a tendency that the focused point you should have dealt with is not locking the thread. Instead, you just remove the individual posts which display excessive confrontation because the topic itself has nothing to do with such individual posts. Apparently, the topic is not inappropriate because there are no any elements of your guideline stating that any topics about Thailand is forbidden; this topic does not violate your guidelines. I am sorry that i talk about this again, but i just talk about it to support my suggestion, and this would worth your while to take this to consider for a next judgment. Another same case to this is the ' Thai language, big influences to Lao society ' topic -- your thread. The topic itself is good but the individual posts which are not fine break the topic. What is a better thing you should have done? Of course, a better thing you should have done is to neutralize the individual posts not closing the thread.

Your webboard is kind of very public one, for it is related to anonymous and there is no PM feature. Just only associating with anonymous may broaden more problems to control, and of course there is no much alteration that you can do about this unless you can develop and popularize your webboard.

The bottom line is that individual posts that may ruin a good topic should be censored . And this belief tends to be supported by most popular webboards' guidelines.

I am very happy to know what you think about my suggestion.

YES, YOU ARE RIGHT. THAILAND, OR VIETNAM, OR MALAYSIA OR INDONESIA.

I THINK THE WINNER OF THE 25TH SEAGAME IS "FAIR PLAY". ANY COUNTRIES WHO GRAB THE MOST GOLD MEDALS, BUT DO NOT PLAY FAIRLY OR CHEAT OTHERS WILL NOT THE CHAMPIONS OF THE 25TH SEAGAME IN LAOS.

ONLY THE COUNTRY WHO PLAYS FAIRLY WILL BE THE WINNER!

Yes, it'll be Thailand, Vietnam or Malaysia but never the Philippines. Right now, the Philippine contingent has not yet been formed. The sports leaders are quarreling, the athletes are demoralized. The Philippine Sports Commission, which is funding the RP participation in Laos, would like to send a lean team of 153 officials and athletes, the Philippine Olympic Committee wants 213.

From sport foundation perspective (support from public & private sectors) and sport professionalism perspective, no country in this 25th SEA Game will match with Thailand - Let's see.

From mental perspective and government support perspective, Vietnam will chase Thailand and will knockout Thailand within next 4~10 years (or 3~5 SEA Games) eventually - let's see.

Thailand has more edges from private sector supportives (which eventually became professional sport); but political stability will impact to their athletes' spirits.
Vietnam has more edge from individual athlete mental and government supportive; but history has proved that without sport professionalism (usually created from private sectors ... big money/prize makes difference) it's just not maximized. In short, these two countries have different barriers; but the first breaker will be the SEA region champ for big while.

For Laos to be SEA Game champion, it may take half to one century (from political and economical infrastructure perspectives). Don't give up though and please keep working on it (but we have to live with reality rather than baseless dreams).

At any moment, the dark-horse will be either Malaysia or Indonesia.

Dear friends,

I'm a Vietnamese and i know for sure one thing. This seagames, Vietnamese sport officials have set all necessary conditions to be the No. 1. They may hesitate to say so, just like the way they said Vietnam would strive for one place in the leading eight countries in Asian Indoor Games III.

So, don't be too shocked if VN is No. 1 this time, in the total number of gold medals, men and women football, men volleyball, westling, pencak silat, teakondo, karatedo, wushu... and a lot more.

Believe me!!!!

Thailand and Vietnam are close to Laos and familiar with Laos, they will play as their home. Thailand is stronger than Vietnam (842/671 contigents) so it is OK if
Vietnam place 2nd. but if out off 3 first places are not happy.

Then, Malay, Indo, Phi, Sin, Laos ....

That I think, now we wait to see! wink
